BYD's Mid-to-Large MPV, the Summer, Reveals Interior, Set for Release in Q1 Next Year

At the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 15. BYD officially launched the new Summer model under its Dynasty series. The first model of the Summer lineup is a mid-to-large MPV, equipped with the fifth-generation DM technology and priced around 300.000 RMB. At this auto show, BYD highlighted the technological advancements in the interior design of the Summer, with the production vehicle expected to be released in the first quarter of next year.

In terms of interior design, the BYD Summer incorporates elements reflecting "Chinese cultural heritage," with the layout inspired by the "Four Waters Returning to the Hall" concept found in traditional Chinese courtyard design, symbolizing the gathering of wealth and prosperity. Design details include traditional Chinese elements such as a hip roof, wide sleeves, stepping stools, and Chinese knots. For color options, the Summer offers two interior color schemes: Twisted Brown + Elegant Rice and Distant Mountain Grey + Elegant Rice.

As an MPV, the BYD Summer emphasizes spaciousness. The vehicle measures 5145 mm in length, 1970 mm in width, and 1805 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3045 mm, offering an extra-large, versatile, and ultra-comfortable luxury space. It features three seating modes: Family Comfort, Executive Luxury, and Solo Light Enjoyment.

The third-row seats of the Summer can be folded, flipped flat, and moved back and forth by 100 mm with the push of a button—an industry-first feature. When the third row is folded, the trunk can accommodate four 24-inch suitcases and two 20-inch suitcases. The car is equipped with 34 storage compartments and a wide-temperature-range intelligent vehicle-mounted refrigerator that can be used for both cooling and heating.

In terms of the intelligent cockpit, the Summer is equipped with the DiLink 150 intelligent system, powered by BYD's custom 9000 AI chip. The system boasts a high benchmark score of 1.15 million points, supporting multimedia linkage across the central control screen, co-pilot screen, and ceiling-mounted central screen, along with trendy applications like handheld gaming and AR glasses.

The Summer also features a cool "black technology"—an AR projection sliding side door and tailgate function. When the car is locked and you approach the side sliding door or tailgate, the AR projection automatically activates. A light tap on the flashing icon with your foot opens the door, offering both convenience and a sense of ceremony.

In terms of intelligent driving, the Summer comes standard with the "Eye of the Gods" high-level intelligent driving assistance system, DiPilot 100. This includes 31 high-precision sensors, such as 5 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 14 high-definition cameras, to provide various driving assistance functions like high-speed navigation, intelligent parking, and emergency braking.

With numerous new energy MPVs priced around 300.000 RMB already present in the domestic automotive market, the arrival of the BYD Summer will further stir this segment.
