BYD Seal 06DMI: The Most Genuine Test Drive Experience Across the Internet

BYD has rebranded the "Seal EV" to just "Seal," and introduced it alongside the "Seal 07 DM-i" on August 8. The starting power is excellent, with a light accelerator pedal that may give a push-back sensation with a bit more pressure.

Power Output:

The power delivery is linear, primarily driven by electric power. Below 70 km/h, it mainly operates in range-extender mode, while above 70 km/h, it switches to plug-in hybrid mode. Overall, the power experience is smooth and responsive, surpassing conventional gasoline vehicles in the same price range.

Driving Experience:

The steering wheel is stable and easy to maneuver. The suspension is tuned for a sporty feel, providing crisp, responsive handling over bumps and manhole covers, with good support during sharp turns and high-speed lane changes.

Fuel Efficiency:

Thanks to the fifth-generation DM technology, energy consumption has been further reduced. The NEDC fuel consumption in depleted battery mode is only 2.9 liters per 100 km. Regular charging and using the forced charging mode can save more on fuel costs.

Space:

The overall space is slightly better than an A+ class sedan, sufficient for daily use.

Other Aspects:

The vehicle has good grip and a stable ride. The audio system performs well, with strong stereo and surround effects, as well as good clarity and detail in vocals.

Interior details are well-crafted, with features such as a cover panel on the brake pedal, seatbelt limiters on the second-row seats, and a partition in the trunk. The car's system operates smoothly, with all essential features included.

The new model is built on the BYD e3.0 platform, with high-end versions featuring advanced driver assistance, including lidar, and an 800V platform.

Power:

- The rear-drive version of the Seal has motor power options of 170 kW and 230 kW, with top speeds of 220 km/h and 240 km/h respectively. It is equipped with 61.44 kWh and 80.64 kWh battery packs, offering CLTC ranges of 510 km and 650 km respectively.

- The all-wheel-drive version has the same motor power as the current model, with a CLTC range of 600 km.

The high-end version also adds advanced driving features like the ILCA stalk for lane changes, providing a more convenient and worry-free driving experience. Notably, the Seal 07 DM-i Icon will come standard with a flowing gray interior, genuine aluminum trim, enhancing the cabin's luxury feel and meeting the high-quality driving expectations of younger consumers.
