I believe that as many of you have been driving Xiaopeng vehicles, you've likely uncovered various useful tricks. I've only had my Xiaopeng for three months, but I've found some handy tips that I'm sharing here, especially for new Xiaopeng owners. Experienced Xiaopeng users may already know these, but I hope they’re helpful for newcomers.
1️⃣ Quick Lane Change with Turn Signal
While driving, we often need to change lanes. Usually, we turn on the signal, change lanes, and then turn off the signal manually. However, you can just lightly flick the turn signal lever without fully engaging it. The turn signal will automatically flash for three seconds, which is usually enough time to complete the lane change, saving you from having to manually turn off the signal.
2️⃣ Wait Mode
Sometimes, you might need to wait in the car with the air conditioning and music on, but using the parking mode can make the car’s exterior lights stay on, drawing attention. Instead, you can switch to Wait Mode. This will turn off the external lights while keeping the interior controls and air conditioning on.
3️⃣ Disable Wireless Charging
If you place your phone on the wireless charging pad but don’t want it to charge, it can be inconvenient to turn it off through the central control. A simple solution is to place the phone screen-side down on the pad. This prevents it from charging.
4️⃣ Lowering the Ground Lock
After updating to version 3.1.0. you can now simply tell Xiaopeng, "Lower the ground lock," and it will do so. Previously, you would need to take out your phone, open the charging station detail page, and click to lower the ground lock. Now, you can also do it from the car’s screen by clicking the charging station icon and selecting the desired ground lock from the details page.
5️⃣ Quick Access Menu
Most operations can be done through Xiaopeng’s voice commands, but sometimes you might prefer using the central control screen. For frequently used functions, you can pull down from the top of the screen to reveal a quick access menu, similar to the drop-down feature on Android phones. This saves you from navigating through multiple layers to find what you need.
6️⃣ Clickable Icons on the Central Screen
On the central screen’s status bar, there are several icons that are actually clickable. For example, you can click on icons for personal center, unlocking, Bluetooth, battery status, system settings, and more.
7️⃣ Customizing Display on the Instrument Cluster
When I first got my car, I couldn’t figure out how to customize the content displayed on the two sides of the instrument cluster. I didn’t find the settings in the central control, and voice commands didn’t work either. The solution is simple: on the steering wheel, use the scroll wheel on either side to long-press and then scroll up or down to switch the displayed content.
8️⃣ Engaging the N Gear
Most of us primarily use P, D, and R gears, and new Xiaopeng owners might have trouble finding the N gear. To engage N gear, follow these steps:
- When the car is in D mode, push the gear lever up one position and hold for one second, then release.
- When the car is in R mode, push the gear lever down one position and hold for one second, then release.
- When the car is in P mode, press the brake pedal, then push or pull the gear lever up or down one position and hold for one second, then release.
