A Step-by-Step Guide to Choosing a More Cost-Effective ES6

Today, I’m going to share with you how to get a high value-for-money Hexagon Warrior—ES6! As someone who has been tweaking and adjusting my car after purchasing it, I believe I have some authority to speak on this, haha!

01 - How to Choose the Exterior

1. Which Free Color to Choose:

Black looks very classy and is suitable for those who may want to change the color later. However, the downside is that it gets dirty easily, and since the ES6 has a floating roof, choosing black might not highlight this feature.

Gray is the most resistant to dirt, blue is the most distinctive, and white appears larger and contrasts sharply with the black floating roof. Just pick whichever you like best.

I chose the Stratosphere Blue because I wanted something economical yet stylish and unique. Traditional black, gray, and white didn’t appeal to me. The blue is youthful, distinctive, and resistant to dirt, so many people have chosen this color. It's affectionately called “Free Blue” by many.

2. How to Choose the Premium Colors:

Compared to the EC6’s purple, the ES6’s purple is darker and more mature. Aurora Green is less popular, Dawn Gold is a very elegant color that you won't regret choosing, Antarctic Star Blue has a mature executive vibe, and Astronaut Blue is youthful and energetic.

I did consider spending 10.000 to choose a specialty color, but considering my budget, I didn’t go for it. However, I now regret this decision because changing the color later for a few thousand yuan comes with its own challenges. My Stratosphere Blue is now changed to Emerald Green, which looks fine from the outside, but as soon as you open the door and see the green exterior with a blue interior, it’s really awkward!

Moreover, when it comes to color wrapping, the industry can be tricky. Good quality wraps can cost 4-5k, while cheaper ones can be as low as 1-2k. Even if you ask, sellers might deceive you about the differences. But in reality, whether the wrap is cheap or expensive, you’ll likely need to replace it after about two years, and removing a cheap wrap might even damage the original paint!

So, if you have the budget or want a more unique look, definitely go for the original factory paint. After all, style lasts a lifetime! If you don’t have the budget, as I mentioned earlier, go for black, black, black! This way, no matter what color wrap you put on, black won’t clash too much.

3. Which Rims to Choose:

You absolutely must spend 3.500 on rims! Why? Because the standard rims have a large surface area, they don’t show the calipers, and they’re really hard to keep clean! So, pick some rims—this is very important!

20-inch rims are enough; whether you choose Woven Snow or Flying Feather, both are fine, but Woven Snow is a bestseller. 21-inch rims might look better, but they reduce your range! However, if you have home charging or choose the 100 kWh battery, then feel free to choose whichever you like~

4. Should You Choose Calipers and Moon Kit:

The Luminous Orange calipers are just a custom color, not an upgrade from four-piston to six-piston calipers like on some other models (the ES6 comes standard with four-piston front calipers). So, it’s up to your personal preference. If you didn’t choose it before buying the car, you can also get the calipers painted later.

As for the Moon Kit, it depends on the color of your car. It’s not just a few logo badges but also includes chrome strips on the body. I suggest pairing Dawn Gold with the Moon Kit—the effect is amazing.

02 - Which Interior Options are Must-Haves?

When it comes to the interior, whether to go for genuine leather and what color to choose depends on your budget and preference. I can share the color I chose: K2 Ridge Gray.

You’ll notice that the actual color is brighter than it appears on the app, but overall, it looks great. The downside is that it’s prone to dirt. I chose K2 Ridge Gray because my exterior is blue, and pairing a gray or white interior with a blue exterior gives a nice “blue sky and white clouds” feel.

I recommend some classic color combinations like white exterior with black interior, or black exterior with white interior—both save money and look good.

I didn’t choose Nappa leather because I don’t care that much about it, and I’ve heard that maintaining genuine leather can be troublesome. Plus, if others don’t care about Nappa when sitting in my car, it would be frustrating for me!

Nomi—if you like it, you absolutely must choose it! Don’t think about adding it later. First, you need to clarify the warranty period for later installation. Second, it’s not guaranteed that there won’t be noise or other issues after installation. Finally, and most importantly, installing Nomi costs 5.000 yuan or 50.000 points—these are not easy to accumulate! So, if you plan to buy points later to install it, why not just install it from the start?

If you’re not that into Nomi, you can skip it, as it’s just a small head and doesn’t affect the use of AI if not installed. Installing it just adds more interactivity to the AI. Also, if you’re the type who can’t resist buying, buying, buying, don’t choose Nomi because you’ll be tempted to buy it lots of hats!

As for the Front Cabin Comfort package, which includes seat massage, ventilation, and heated steering wheel, it’s a must-have. You might skip the seat massage, but you can’t do without the heated steering wheel and seat ventilation!

The Full-Car Comfort package adds rear comfort features on top of the front cabin comfort package. If your second row is rarely occupied, then skip it. However, if you have business needs, then it’s worth considering.

The Queen’s Co-Pilot seat is recommended. You may not use it often, but once you do, you’ll find it worth the investment. Whether you’re waiting in the car for a lunch break or charging, a Queen’s Co-Pilot seat with zero-gravity recline and seat massage is pure enjoyment!

03 - Is Optional Equipment Necessary?

The Towing Package is essential if you plan to go camping with your family or tow a caravan. If not equipped at the factory, it cannot be added later! (Note: Towing requires a C6 driver’s license!)

The N-Box entertainment machine is worth considering if you like taking naps or playing with your kids in the car. Many people feel that a single center screen isn’t enough for watching movies or playing games, so the entertainment machine is a good option. But if you don’t choose it when ordering the car, it cannot be added later. (Note: To use the N-Box, you need to buy AR glasses from the store.)

I didn’t choose it at the time because I didn’t think playing AR in the car would be a great experience. After all, you can play lots of games at home after work. Plus, I was worried it might be like some gaming consoles where you have to buy additional games, so I didn’t buy it.

The windshield wiper de-icer cannot be added later either. I suggest this depending on your geographical location. In the South, where snowfall is rare, I didn’t buy it. You can simply buy a front windshield sunshade and use the one-touch snow removal feature instead. However, if you live in the North where snow is frequent, consider buying it!

These are my suggestions as someone who’s been through it all. I hope you enjoy your car!
