Xiaomi Auto Experience Store Opens in Jinan: Test Drives Available, Car Pre-orders Scheduled Until Year-End

Since the official release of the Xiaomi SU7 car on March 28. it has garnered widespread attention from consumers. Recently, Xiaomi Auto opened two new stores in Jinan. On July 12. a reporter from New Yellow River visited Xiaomi Auto’s sales service center on Jingyi Road in Huaiyin District, Jinan.

Test Drives Available at Xiaomi Auto

At the Huaiyin District Xiaomi Auto Sales Service Center, the New Yellow River reporter observed the store's exterior adorned with Xiaomi's prominent orange logo. Inside, the store is divided into several areas, including a car display area, an options selection area, a consultation reception area, and a service center, catering to consumers' needs for viewing cars, placing orders, test driving, and after-sales services.

The showroom features three display cars and showcases options such as a wall of vehicle selections, wheels, and both exterior and interior color schemes, providing an all-encompassing experience for Xiaomi fans.

In the test drive area, customers eagerly awaited their turn. Xiaomi sales staff were methodically introducing the vehicles and demonstrating their features. Mr. Wang, a local resident, expressed his preference for Xiaomi cars, noting, "The interior space is large, the seat design is good, and both the front and rear trunk spaces are spacious, making both driving and riding quite comfortable." He mentioned he has been considering purchasing one and is currently in the test-driving phase.

According to on-site staff, this store operates as a 2S store, offering both car sales and service (maintenance) functions.

Only Accepting Online Orders

A search on the Xiaomi Auto official website reveals that Jinan currently hosts two stores: the Xiaomi Auto Sales Service Center on Jingyi Road in Huaiyin District, and the Xiaomi Home High-Tech Wanda Auto Experience Store in Lixia District.

According to the official website, Xiaomi Auto plans to open 17 new stores nationwide in July, covering Jinan, Changzhou, Changchun, and Guiyang.

The High-Tech Wanda Auto Experience Store is an upgraded Xiaomi Home High-Tech Wanda Plaza store. It currently sells Xiaomi-branded electronic products such as phones, computers, and smartwatches. Store staff indicated that all employees are currently sales staff for electronic products, with separate sales channels for Xiaomi phones and Xiaomi cars. The store will display Xiaomi cars for consumer viewing and experience.

It is understood that Xiaomi Auto currently only accepts online orders. "Car purchases require queuing according to the order sequence, and currently, pre-orders are scheduled until year-end," a staff member at the Huaiyin District Xiaomi Auto Sales Service Center said.

Public information shows that Xiaomi Auto stores adopt a dual model of direct sales and authorized sales. Direct sales stores are Xiaomi Homes, where smart home products will also sell Xiaomi cars. Authorized stores are operated by third-party dealers. 2S stores retain both complete vehicle sales and after-sales service functions.

The enthusiasm for new energy vehicles continues to rise, and the number of Xiaomi Auto stores is also increasing. Currently, there are 87 Xiaomi Auto stores across 30 cities nationwide. The new stores in Jinan provide great convenience for residents to visit and test drive Xiaomi cars.

According to a market staff member at the Huaiyin District Xiaomi Auto Sales Service Center, the Xiaomi Auto Jinan Delivery Center is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Once completed, customers can modify their delivery center to Jinan for direct car pick-up in the city. It is reported that once a Xiaomi Auto order is locked, it cannot be canceled, and the car will enter production. Consumers can freely choose the interior decoration.

Information on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s website dated July 12 shows that four new “Xiaomi-branded” pure electric cars appeared in the 385th batch of the “Announcement of Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Products.” Notably, the company name is "Xiaomi Auto Technology Co., Ltd.," indicating that Xiaomi Auto has obtained independent manufacturing qualifications, with its production company name changed from BAIC to Xiaomi.

On July 1. Xiaomi Auto released a set of latest data, showing that June deliveries exceeded 10.000 units, with July deliveries expected to exceed 10.000 units again. To accelerate the delivery process, Xiaomi Auto is continuously expanding its production capacity, promising a minimum delivery of 100.000 units this year, aiming for 120.000 units. According to the Xiaomi Auto app, the delivery cycle after locking the order can be shortened by up to 5 weeks as of July 3.

Since the beginning of this year, the enthusiasm for new energy vehicle consumption has been on the rise. Statistics from the Jinan Municipal Bureau of Statistics show that from January to May, the retail sales of new energy vehicles by units above a designated size in Jinan reached 7.45 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.8%, accounting for 32.3% of the retail sales of automotive products by units above a designated size in the city, an increase of 6.8 percentage points compared to the same period last year.

Currently, Jinan is boosting the new energy vehicle market by holding car consumption promotion activities and increasing subsidies for vehicle trade-ins. In March this year, Jinan launched the 2024 government car trade-in subsidy activity. In June, Jinan issued an implementation plan to promote the trade-in of consumer goods, aiming to reach a new energy vehicle ownership of over 300.000 units by 2025. further unleashing the potential of new energy vehicle consumption in Jinan.
