The Xiaomi SU7 has been incredibly popular, with over 50.000 orders placed within just half an hour of its release—a truly astonishing figure. I believe many people, including myself, did not expect the Xiaomi SU7 to be this well-received. But is this car really perfect? Today, I will share my personal views on the pros and cons of this vehicle, hoping to provide some insight for those considering purchasing it.
Let's start with the advantages, categorized into three main points:
First Point: Design
While some critics argue that the design of the Xiaomi SU7 borrows heavily from other brands, it is undeniable that this electric vehicle is visually appealing. Much like Zotye in the past, despite the ridicule it faced, many people still purchased its cars. If Xiaomi's vehicles can stand the test of time, they might bring even more surprises in the future. Of course, we hope Xiaomi’s upcoming products will feature stunning designs.
Second Point: Ecosystem
As the first car truly built by a smartphone manufacturer, one of the Xiaomi SU7's strengths is its robust ecosystem. Unlike other brands that focus on the connectivity between the car system and smartphones, the Xiaomi SU7 integrates home and car systems comprehensively. Interested buyers should experience this for themselves; they will find that the car’s system and user-friendly design are unmatched by many vehicles in the same price range. For young people, such an integrated ecosystem is quite rare in the industry.
Third Point: Purchase Threshold
While the top-end Xiaomi SU7 at 299.900 RMB is not cheap, the 215.900 RMB model is more approachable. Despite some people feeling that the starting price is a bit high, considering its standard features, the Xiaomi SU7 is quite sincere in its offering. Although Lei Jun mentioned that the current pricing is at a loss, it’s hard to say for sure. Personally, I think spending over 210.000 RMB on a C-class car is worth considering, even though I feel this car is more like a premium version of the Tesla Model 3.
Now, let's move on to the disadvantages. Of course, these are just my personal opinions, so please take them with a grain of salt.
First Point: Space
I’m not sure if it’s because of my height or the limited rear space of the Xiaomi SU7. but I feel that the rear seats are more like those of a B-class car rather than a C-class car. While it’s not that the space is insufficient, the rear seats still fall short compared to traditional luxury sedans. Personally, I think the rear seats of the Xiaomi SU7 resemble those of some sports cars rather than a purely family-oriented sedan.
Second Point: Supporting Infrastructure
The infrastructure I’m referring to is not home appliances, but rather the charging facilities. It is surprising that the entire Xiaomi SU7 series does not yet support the 800V platform, something that the newly launched Avatr 12 has standard. Additionally, the number of Xiaomi's own supercharging stations is still unknown. Lei Jun mentioned that Xiaomi is preparing to build these stations, with Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou being the first cities to plan the 600kW liquid-cooled supercharging stations.
Conclusion
Every car has its own set of pros and cons, and the key lies in what consumers prioritize. In my view, the advantages and disadvantages of the Xiaomi SU7 are quite clear. What do you think? Is this new car worth buying?
